Yellow Umbrella 10K run (24-Sept-06)

My first run since the London marathon and I knew I would be rusty! I’d not tried this event before and there
didn't appear to be many people running or supporting which seemed a real shame as the organizers had gone to a
lot of trouble and didn't leave out any details (except the last few km markers!). Very much a family fun day,
clowns for the kids, food and craft stores etc... I just didn’t have any family with me! (sob).
But the run... very well marshaled, very friendly atmos, flat and much of it along sweeping stretches of the Thames.
It was a surprisingly sunny day to boot. My only criticisms would be the km markers disappeared later in the race,
and there was a 3/4 mile run to the start line which wasn't made clear and messed up my momentum as I thought
when we left the start we had actually started! But no, we were halted after 3/4 mile at traffic lights and 2 mins
later we had the second start!
So enough excuses, beer has taken its toll yet again and the next target is to beat this time in Leatherhead!

No backup team, no photos! Have to make do with this
REALLY cack cartoon instead!
