JJ (second lap) - 50 min 32 sec
This started as a record breaking day when 5 marathon drinkers and 1 hard core fan gathered at the start line of the Tamworth 10k.
The course had been tweaked since last year (no burning cars!) so the MC was proudly announcing that everyone would gain a course PB. But that wasn't enough for me as I defied the remaining symptoms of man-flu and my mothers advice "you shouldn't be running with that cold" to knock out a 10k personal best! I had only shaved 12 seconds off my record but it brought me yet closer to the elusive sub-50 minute 10k.
I claimed my very chunky medal from the Mayoress of Tamworth, had a little cattarah-lucozade vomit and awaited my fellow MD's at the finish line. Guests 21, 24 and 5 soon swept past the finishing line, each claiming 10k PBs. But MD legend JJ failed to complete the PB haul and was sent on a second lap of shame around the course (OK, he had London Marathon training miles to make up too).
A great morning had been had, with medals swinging round our necks we headed off to my mother's for a fantastic roast beef lunch and glass of red wine.
