Tamworth Heart 10k (18-Feb-07)

This was my first race of the year and I intended to get a notch on the bed post of medals and work off the Christmas over-indulgence. I went into it with only 3 or 4 recent runs under my belt so I knew it would be a hard slog. I had read that the course was undulating but I hadn’t prepared myself for almost 5km of mostly downhill and 5km of uphill! I ran the first half in a speedy 23 minutes but took 30 minutes to complete the second half. So, a race of two halves across nice countryside and some very friendly super size pigs as spectators. There is no Personal Best potential though, even if the downhill start does lull you into a false sense of security. Happy, and fully medalled up (albeit an average gong), I retired to my car and took the snap below with exhausted, shaky hands…
