The Clapham Common 10K (30-Oct-05)
To get a head start on next year's marathon training I entered the Clapham Common 10k. Whilst I managed to set a PB of 51 mins 14 secs (coming 226 out of 467) it is not a race I would recommend. The race started 15 minutes late (organisers blamed the wind for blowing their tents away!), the KM markers disappeared after the first two (with the stewards more intent on playing with their mobiles than holding up signs) and the finisher's medal is the cheapest medal I've ever seen! (The kind you wouldn't bite into to test the metal as you would end up taking a chunk out of it). Still, it was mild enough to run in a t-shirt meaning I was able to give some free publicity to the Marathon Drinking cause!
