 OVERALL  A Lovely 'L-Shaped' bar

For our landmark 200th pub, we followed our noses as we left the station... drawn by the sickly smell of sugar from the Tate & Lyle factory on the Albert Road. After a few minutes we passed a derelict and boarded up pub before finally finding the Henley Arms on our left. The obligatory Jaguar was parked outside and as we entered, we think we broke up a syndicate of less than legal betting on the horses! We got quite a few stares with our suitcases but we think that having them did enough to convince the locals that we weren't undercover cops with elaborate props.

I felt at home in the bar area as there was an Aston Villa scarf draped behind the bar but JJ needed a seat to recover as he was still reeling from his unexpurgated breast show at the last pub! We headed to the beer "garden" (see pic below) but no sooner had we sat down than it started raining. The toilets were in no better condition than the garden area and possibly the worst we had encountered yet there was a sign warning that if you only wanted to watch the football on TV and not drink beer then you would be charged £5.40. This was 40p more than the last pub so presumably this was going towards a toilet restoration fund. Tired and weary from our running exploits we attempted a third stop but failed to find a local within hobbling distance of the Pontoon Docks DLR stop. However, we did still have time for JJ to be cautioned by the local constabulary for taking an afternoon leak in the nearby bushes! Surely less naked exploits and blatant law breaking would occur the next time we saddled up at ...

Nice place...
