Worth the walk! |
It was a long journey across London (2 hours!) to find Cockfosters and an equally long ramble around Cockfosters to find this pub so why not check out the map link above to save me describing the walk! We'd already met Guest 1 at the station as he had arrived a lot earlier than us... obviously keen for some Cockfosters action. And action we found! This was a great pub, serving some really nice Thai food apparently (note - MD Legend Tim made do with a MD apple due to a weightloss regime).
The pub overlooked an old English cricket green and we were sure this would be a nice pub to return to in the summer for a taste of times gone by. The barmaids were just as aesthetically pleasing although service was far from brisk or attentive. The pub has some very nice furniture inside and a number of booths to sit at.... about as far away from being a chain pub as we have seen which was refreshing in itself. The beer was equally refreshing so we stayed and tried one of their speciality beers which came in a nice glass but sadly tasted of very little. The walls were decked with a number of mounted animals... stags, pikes but sadly no dragons and fortunately no.... Time to press on to Oakwood and squeeze another pub out before the long journey home...

Tim really does need that diet doesn't he?

Speciality beer glasses!
