A honey pot of a pub |
Today we showed classic Marathon Drinkers approach to life.... We went for the beer-run-beer combo thanks to a lunch time MD stop, a 3 miler after work and a few evening beers in Brixton. On arriving at Brixton we took a left out of the station and a left down Coldharbour Lane. JJ had previous in this bar but it had been refurbished since then and they had done a decent job. The beer garden was obviously closed but we found the only facility in the whole pub (an IT Box) and monopolised it for the next 3 pints! We were drawn to a new game which featured a load of bees collecting honey. With the heady mix of orange Lucozade (sugary goodness for runners) and strong beer inside us we were just craving those honey drops which may explain why a good few quid went West!
We were also impressed by the late opening hours in this farce of a 24 hour drinking society where you are still hard pushed to find a pub open after 11.30pm in the week. Well this one boasted a 2am close on Wednesdays/Thursdays and a 4am kick out at the weekend... reason enough to come back! But we were busy bees and headed off to sample more delights (or not as the case proved - think the worst Wetherspoons EVER). Let's hope for more of a buzz next time at Elm Park...
