This was the last one of the night as far as MD went and we were very lucky it was a good one. Fuelled by Value Tesco lager and flanked by my wingmen we scanned the lively pub and over a sea of women we saw an indie band finishing their last live number. The bar was woefully understaffed for such a busy Saturday night but our patience paid off and we were soon supping our beers and admiring Guest 1’s advent calendars which to be frank were now starting to cramp our style.
Next up on stage was a very cute blonde woman and her band of misfits. It took a while for the penny to drop (with me) and it wasn’t until I loudly exclaimed they were doing a lot of Blondie tracks that some groupie condescendingly informed me that we were actually watching a Blondie tribute act! She transfixed JJ and I with her looks but Guest 1 was not really bothered … each to his own! So in summary, we caught this on a good night but would certainly recommend a return, and particularly at the weekend. MD’ing was done as we bid our Guest a fond farewell and got the tube southwards to get a few late beers at an old Wimbledon haunt. See you next time at Devons Road...

Oh Denis, do bee doo, we're in love with you!
