These locals love their cheesy moments! |
For our last pub of the evening we were anxious to find a place that had the footy on so we could fully savour Man U's loss. However, when we arrived at the Plough, they obviously didn't have Sky Sports and the TV was on Sky Sports news with the vidiprinter. We read the notice about the weekly quiz and bingo and got our pints and a "nice meal for two", a couple of bags of cheesy moments. The geezer and the bar and the landlady obviously decided to have some fun and spent the next 20 minutes amusing themselves with the fact we had our nice romantic meal and suggested that in fact we were a couple of gays. Banter banter later and we were adopted locals. And this IS a locals pub. The punter discussed such thrilling subjects as laminate flooring as a chap ran in, got served from his own tankard and ran out again all without paying. But the highlight was Gandalf the wizard (or his doppelganger) and his trusty dog, who also had his own little saucer of beer!! We waved a cheery goodbye and made the long trek home. Next trip a cheeky away day in Amsterdam with England...
