OVERALL  We’ll be returning soldiers here

A left out of the station and a second right at High St leads you to the Soldier’s Return. Sadly it was ten days too early to take part in a bungee jump in aid of Children in Need but we would have been very tempted to seal this first scoop for Marathon Drinkers (in a pub car park in West Ruislip!). Inside the pub darts was clearly a favourite with the locals and they proudly displayed a number of cups they had previously won.

We sat near a young couple bickering over their first house purchase in London. We’d both been there before, trying to justify how you can spend almost a quarter of a million over 50 years to buy a one bedroom flat in complete slum. They should have taken our lead and invested their money in beer instead. We indulged in some Scampi Fries (they had a good array of bar snacks) and clocked off duty knowing tonight wouldn’t be an easy one on the tubes. Next stop Ruislip Gardens...
