When will I ever learn that wearing a pink tie on an MD session is never a good idea!? First impressions of the Brunswick Arms just weren’t lived up to. It is an old worn pub nestled in between modern city flats and you will find it as you exit the DLR station if you head to the landmark IBIS hotel. From a distance it looked cheery and welcoming but as we got closer we saw groups of youths eating McDonalds outside and noticed that some of the letters were missing from the pub name (presumably stolen by some scally).
Inside it was run down and the fact that all three of us weren’t really in the mood for a beer it was unlikely that this first stop would lift us. Children ran around shouting and slightly older barmaids scowled at all and sundry. We’d seen enough and left quicker than you could say “dole bludgers”. It was time to find our next beer at Canning Town...
