Come here for live music from family singers! |
There was nothing obvious on exiting the station so we had a toss up (as opposed to off) and turned right down Jamaica Road. We soon came to The Boatman on our right. The pub was pretty typical with one large room with the bar against the back wall, and the toilets behind. The slightly unusual feature being the small stage to the right. Examination of the posters on the wall revealed that this is an unexpected hotbed of live music (with a family theme). Apparently this is some sort of tradition in Bermondsey! However, it was far too early for that and so we decided upon a game of pool and some crisps to make up for our disappointment. So we kicked off a round-robin competition between the three of us. We found we were ourselves an attraction as a local got himself a pint and sat down to watch our game, which was slightly unsettling, especially when he started to give us some banter. However, MD can fit in anywhere so no worries. For the record, we won one game each and wanted another round but we were late for a non-MD curry meeting with Guest 2 and so we headed off for Peckham. More drinking next time at Blackwall...

Sound advice indeed!
