 OVERALL  Poor tourists!!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. We had been waiting for this for some time now. The very last Zone 1 station. Previously unattainable due to renovations at the station, we were really looking forward to this one... The Finns had been quartered just above the Queensway station in their hotel all week and so knew exactly where the closest pub to the station was - they have learnt well! Turning right out of the station and immediately left, the Black Lion looks out onto Hyde Park. The place was very busy and we had to fight our way past a serious drinker with a Lenin cap and a lost leg making him look like a war veteran (possibly Polish - a theme for the evening!). I waited for some time for a the joker of a barman to work out how to use his till when serving the previous punter - no problem. But then he proceeded to serve some other guys who had just walked in. I was thirsty and in no mood to mess around and so after a reprimand, he decided that in fact I WAS next. The beers were pulled and delivered. The guy then tried to charge me £6.20. Oh dear, he really hadn't learnt had he? After another rebuke, he re-evaluated the price. I picked up the beer only for us to see one of the glasses was cracked. ANOTHER rebuke later and finally we had our beer! After all this, nothing was really going to save it for this pub, even a possible two separate sets of lezzers (Aussie and Hispanic for reference). Some extra light amusement was gained from a group of 9 elderly Japanese women and a mentor who all sat down to enjoy a nice half of Guinness each! Overall, this could have been a decent stop if they hadn't tried to rip us off and offered awful service. We actually feel sorry for tourists if this is the experience they get of an English pub because this really is a bad example. Hopefully we could shake this off at Colindale...

Grr! That makes me mad!!!
