Too big and empty to have much of an atmos |
| Facilities | 3 x fruits, 1 x ‘Stalker Prize Game’, 2 x pool tables (£1.20), 1 x Big Screen and a Slush Puppy drinks machine! | |
| Ladies | OK barmaid, some teenagers, scrubbers and old diners |
| OVERALL | You’d have more fun watching the cars pass by on the nearby A40 |
We took a left out of the unusually named station which is one of those names you just don’t recognize as being a
London tube stop. (Though my subsequent investigation has unearthed that it is derived from combining old English
and French words which means ‘the valley with the pear trees’). …Which sounds beautiful but to get to the pub you
have to cross a big old bridge which takes you over the whacking great A40 which is a 6 lane highway! The headlights
were mesmerizing but we sauntered into the Mylett Arms and the only flashing lights found were those on the numerous
“prize games” you would normally find at a kid’s fair.
We racked up the balls and continued the pool fest. By now the Finns were in full swing as the wonder at our English coloured balls had now subsided. The pub itself was large, part restaurant and part kid’s amusement park. Not a serious MD bar, it was only on the cusp of MD qualification but in an area like this, beggars just can’t be choosers. Time to head back closer to London with hope in our hearts for Hanger Lane...

Some
lovely old wooden escalator steps in the underground. The highlight of our visit
