A very very long walk to find this one and it almost certainly isn't the closest pub to West Ham - in fact it is very close to Plaistow, check out the map link above! With a nice brick facade, this pub sits on the corner of a housing estate and we are in real Ray Winstone country here. Tim was again suitably dressed for the occasion! We got our beers and found a relatively quiet corner to sit in. A nice old guy moved his bag for us and we started to sup and observe. The England flags adorning the pub are probably there all year around I suspect and not just for the World Cup. These guys love their own as various remembrance cards for "Old Jim" testified. As we left, we overheard someone mentioning that they "blew 1000k on crack". Not only was this atypical of the pub on our visit when everyone was in good summer spirits, but it also is probably physically impossible to take a million quids worth of cocaine without dying! I think the beer might have been talking somehow. Would we get some more insights into the criminal underworld at South Quay...?

The closest pub, boarded up and out of action!
