Ladies  Grrr... so close yet so far was heaven. After the netballers left we lost all interest but there can't have been much left over and above the two barmaids we spotted!

 OVERALL  Bland

It was good to get off at "the Toot" (as locals call it), and The Castle was clearly visible from the crossroads on which the tube station is situated. However, this is only a "nearly review", or in the words of Bullseye's Jim Bowen "this is what you could have won". As we approached the pub over 20 female netballers (most still in kit) trooped out, although I am sure that the two events were not related. The mood of the male Marathon Drinkers plummeted and to be honest, the night never really recovered from this almighty low. Yeah, we went in, sat down and had a pint, yeah somebody even bought some nuts, and yeah we made small talk but none of that stuff seemed to matter. The pub was decidedly average, the decor very bland and there was a fair amount of chatter going on, but our special night had been stolen from us and we needed a pick-me-up. Would we find it at Tooting Bec...?
