 OVERALL  Bleachy

A swift lunchtime pint just over the water from work at Surrey Quays, we arrived at the Caulkers which is just behind the Surrey Quays shopping centre car park. The pub is divided into two sections, one of which we tried, but could not get into. The second section wasn't overly promising, we were greeted by an overpowering stench of bleach - the smiling black toothed woman had obviously just been swilling down after the night before. The place had bare floorboards and despite the cleaning frenzy was still pretty dirty in places. World cup fever is starting to grip and this place had plenty of St Georges flags hanging all over. The only other inhabitant was an old guy who kindly moved his coat for us so we could play pool. Little did we know that this favour was a season ticket for this guy to chat to us and offer advice on pool tactics and skills! We were slightly relieved when black-teeth started to play on a fruity and he turned into a one-armed-bandit expert with such gems as "you've got to gamble" "hold 'em all" and "good girl" when she won 3 quid. Tim somehow managed to win the pool, taking an early lead in 2006 season. Would there be an opportunity for sweet revenge at Morden....?
