Still basking in my glory at completing the 2006 London Marathon we arrived at St John's Wood which seemed a really nice, wealthy part of London. In hindsight we missed a trick as this is the scene of the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing which the Beatles used on their most famous album cover. Can you imagine 5 happy marathon drinkers recreating the 1960's magic? Maybe we'll return one day! Anyway, we took a left out of the tube and headed down the road and fell upon The Duke of York. It certainly wasn't as pubby as the name suggest... in fact it was quite poncy although it did have a generous nine different drinks on tap. I knew within minutes that this pub would not spawn much of a review so I went on a recce with my camera. Sadly, I only managed to find a cleaning cupboard in the toilet so I duly took a photo of that and headed back up the crooked stairs to finish my pint! Let's hope for more interest at Surrey Quays...

Lovely art deco styled escalators and a message to thieves...
