Hometime? no chance, we decided to sneak in just one more stop and so we stopped off at the place we all hope will soon again be the location for our footy dreams, Wembley. Impressively, there were builders working on the station even at this time of night, they really must be up against their timelines with their bonuses at risk! Turning left (rather than right towards the stadium), we soon came to yet another Irish pub, the Crock Of Gold. It appears this might actually really be an Irish pub though. The Celtic supporters club of London are based here (subs now due) and all GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) games are shown live here. All quite interesting for a pub a stones throw from the English bastion of football. We ordered our drinks, noted that "Please don't pull the curtains - ask the staff" and started to sup. Tim was more interested in the eye make-up on the chesty girl, but banter soon turned around to our guest and how he had enjoyed the evening. Legendary quotes sometimes just happen on these Marathon Drinking nights but it was still somewhat of a surprise to hear our self-confessed "non-drinker" guest coming out with this little gem as he supped down his 5th Guinness of the evening. "I can understand how George Best went down. I would if I had the money". I think that says it all really, I think we all feel the same way and thinking about it, given the birds he ended up with (c.f. chesty girl ,Tim), I am sure we all do. A fitting tribute to a drinking legend and a great end to a very varied evening. Back to the tube, avoid the Lee Evans fans, grab a Maccy D's and to bed, ready for the next outing beginning at Woodford....
