We had longed worked ourselves up about the delights of 'Pub 100' which turned out to be The Railway. Not only was this one of the longest walks yet (12 minutes if you take a left out of the station), it was a big let down! After traipsing through the leafy suburbs of Canons Park we reached the pub and within seconds of entering we felt uncomfortable (particularly me in my whistle and flute). Not one but two of the clientele were suffering from what looked like very recent black eyes. We had expected the royal treatment to celebrate our century but the looks we received and the whole ambiance of the place was so unsavory that JJ and Guest 12 took the 'safety in numbers' approach to going to the toilet (I used a cork). We were now regretting bypassing the slightly closer Mr. Q's pub (now officially a chain by MD standards) but rules is rules so we supped and left to the safe haven of Queensbury...

Dodgy looking local 'hard man'
