A bitingly cold wind off the wharves blighted our search for a local pub. Frost-bitten and windswept we ended up at The China Hall, just opposite the Swedish Seaman's Church (!). The two old locals who were our pub companions barely registered our presence, but the barman was very friendly, helping us to get the pool table lights on and closing the blinds so we didn't have too much sun. This pub had the depressing honour to be the first we have visited with Christmas decorations in place - shocking! The pictures on the wall suggest that this pub is one definitely for locals and probably gets quite lively on an evening, but for our rushed lunchtime visit, the atmosphere was dependant on road traffic noise and Fred and Bill's hilarity at their own struggles to walk across the pub floor without stumbling. A quick game of pool later (JJ win) and we were ready to depart, noting that "If you want to watch Live Sport, then you must spend £5 at the bar". With the cricket already lost, we neither wanted to or were able to test how strictly they would enforce this most bizarre of rules. Ready now for an after work session, starting at Walthamstow Central...

Drum up business! Come on!!
