On our way to the match (don't ask), we decided to slip in a quick MD stop at Hammersmith. After a quick check on a potential pub showed it to be a chain, we headed to the familiar George. A largish pub with plenty of seats and a longish bar, the place was fairly airy and well lit. The obligatory east european barmaid served us our cheapish round and we made swift work of finishing them off in the limited time we had. The Halloween theming was a nice touch with banners and pumpkins and a great furry spider on the fruit machine (captured for posterity). The place was really quite busy with a decent number of women in, including a well oiled blonde who looked as if she might well scrub up nicely when sober! On a heady mix of medication and Guinness, Tim proclaimed that he didn't mind a chubby girl who was facing away from us. On a heady mix of Foster's and extreme exhaustion, I agreed. One thing which was obvious was the large number of rockers in the pub, a fact explained when we left for the ground and passed a massive queue for the Hammersmith Apollo where it emerged that the Kaiser Chief's were playing. They might "predict a riot", but not here as these were the best behaved rock fans ever, with their flasks of soup, umbrellas and macs. Things have changed since we were youngsters.... Maybe we would find some more raucous action at Holland Park....
