On exiting the large escalators out of Canary Wharf station, a trail of pubs and bars can be seen snaking along the Thames. We avoided the mass of chain-bars and entered a regular haunt called The Henry Addington. For the visit I had broke from tradition by not being fully suited and booted, and it wasn't unexpected that I was the only person in this pub wearing football colours. However, we were fresh(ish) from a visit to Old Trafford where we had witnessed England beat Poland in the final qualifying game for the 2006 World Cup. The pub is nicely located and has a lot of Thames side seating and tables for the summer. Inside there was little excitement except for a city slicker in pink who had made the carnal sin of having a blackcurrant top in his Guinness, certainly it toned with his attire but we were not impressed. We had to make it a quick pint and then drag ourselves off for a half day at work, counting the hours down before a visit to Highbury & Islington...
