Our full quorum of guests headed merrily to Chalk Farm discussing the possible origins of the tube station name (I don't think we went much beyond a chalky farm). The pub was across the road from the tube exit and on the right hand side. It was situated next door to an ice-cream parlour which gave it immediate kudos! Inside it was as scummy as a badger's ass but the bar staff were friendly and served a great shamrock on the pints of Guinness. The regulars were certainly irregular in the everyday sense but they suited the venue which was pretty much run-down. A marvelous tattooed man with an 80's piano pattern tie sat holding court in the corner of the pub, just a pork-pie hat away from greatness. The urinals were particularly grotty, so much so that photographic evidence was taken! Once we had figured out that the clock on the wall was intentionally backwards we realised we had time for another drink or two and left in search of Camden Town...
