The totty induced high had to end and it did as we landed at Victoria Station and entered the Shakespeare, (which is clearly visible from the tube exit). This is a busy part of London and a real HUB for transport connections so you would hope for more. The pub is a T&J Bernard and this time they had sunk too far. It had a lollypop selling toilet attendant!!! How the hell can this place have the temerity to call itself a pub yet pimp out such an insult to its patrons? What right-minded drinker needs assistance to wash their hands, the application of cheap aftershave or to purchase a lollypop? (OK....sometimes a Chuppa Chupp is nice but not like this!). Deeply insulted we took our drinks outside and forced them down us. It was a shame as the venue was a decent size and they had made a half-decent effort at providing a dining area. With a look of disgust we left The Shakespeare, dreaming of moist netballers and big white pianos. It had been a strange but enjoyable evening, but already we were looking forward to our next venue, Tower Gateway...
