 OVERALL  A real hidden gem

After some comedy searching for a suitable venue by myself and Tim, we eventually found the Ship down a small alleyway after turning left out of the station and then taking the first left. The pub obviously has some history and looked very nice from the outside. Inside it was pretty good as well. The top bar was closed for a private party, but the rest of the pub was heaving with lawyer type suits and the sorts of birds that rich blokes attract. The pirate-earringed Spanish barmaid gave us our change in Dubloons and we drunk our tot and sang a merry shanty to old Billy-Bones and Davy Jones' locker (not really). The nautical theme was carried on by pictures of rowing teams on the walls. Guest 7 made note that he was charged a massive 70p for a bag of Monster Munch (illegally consumed whilst on duty, and not for the last time this evening!). Great excitement was got when it was observed that the nuts from the nut machine on the bar were being doled out in half pint glasses. Very nice, but remember, no halves! The only other bit of excitement as when I (no, not Guest 1 this time) was asked by a drunk bloke in the toilets if his jeans "looked like leathers". Bring slightly suspicious of his intentions, and not wishing to encourage him for more chat, I mumbled some "foreign" words to indicate my lack of comprehension and quickly hurried everyone out of the door, ready to hit our next stop at Covent Garden and a date with Guest 8 and our biggest ever turn out for a single pub!
