Marathon Drinkers on tour! The temperature was a scorching 90 degrees as we retreated into the only qualifying pub in Dubrovnik. The only other choice of bars were of the wine or cafe nature, although there was a breathtaking bar (Buza) on the cliff edge overlooking the Adriatic which sadly didn't qualify as there were no beers on tap and the parasoles were sponsored by Coca Cola! I had been joined by Guest 3 who was only too aware that this would not qualify as a cap. It wasn't a good start as the Guinness was being changed, so a pre-poured pint of Kilkenny was produced from behind the bar. In normal circumstances I would have shown my indignation but the barmaid was a) cute and b) foreign so I smiled meekly, told her to keep the 1 kuna (10 pence) change and retreated. The bar itself was adorned with fake Irish signs but it had a nice pub feel about it and the air con provided sanctuary from the beating sun. And thus it was over.... the first international MD stop, but nothing would make up for the wonder of a good old London pub, so the MD scorecard was folded up until the next overseas jolly and the next surprise was a Birthday Trip to Goodge Street.
