After doing a complete circuit of Marylebone to scout out possibles, we met up with Guest 1 and made our way to the Globe. The pub sits on the corner of a nearby street and is probably best described as "out of place". Marylebone is a generally nice area and this local pub for geezers and cheap gold-laden mums on the pop doesn't quite fit in. Still the sounds of merriment indicated that at least it was popular. Guest 1 popped back to the station to collect Guest 2 as Tim got the beers in and we decided to stand outside. Unaware of this, Guest 1 purchased a mini round for himself and Guest 2 leaving us with extra drinks to finish off at this stop. Still no problem to committed Marathon Drinkers! We weren't even put off by the amazingly strange "walnut whip" of a head that was on the second pint of Foster's! The singing and cheering inside despite there being no sporting events on, gives testimony to the power of having a cheap Magniers promotion in these parts. Provide it.... and they will come. JJ partook of an excellent haddock and chips from the nearby World famous "Sea Shell Of Lisson Grove" chippy and our eventful visit was polished off by a semi-suited "Magnier-Man" emerging from the pub, cursing some Arabs, offering us his business card for financial advice, discussing Marathon Drinkers, promising to visit our website, trying to take someone's taxi and eventually finding his own taxi and heading off home. This was at 7pm remember....
I must get hold of some of that Magniers....... Off to Regent's Park.
