The drunks were singing at this early hour. I think they might have been there sometime..... |
| Facilities | Two fruits, a pool table (with Big Dave), jukebox and a TV | |
| Ladies | An old barmaid and 'something' playing pool |
| OVERALL | We couldn't leave quick enough. |
With some dread we circled the Elephant and Castle shopping centre, surely the most unpleasant location within Zone 1 (well definitely so far!). Guys in suits are fair game in this neck of the woods and we were glad it was still daylight. As we finished our circuit we came upon the Charlie Chaplin , loosely themed upon the slapstick silent film star. This was ironic as any one of the clientele of this pub could probably be described as the Little Tramp. We fought our way through the smoke-filled bar and ordered our drinks. The tension of the occasion meant JJ panicked and bought what should have been Tim's round! A sign on the wall proudly proclaimed "Websters Green Label Bitter" for £1.30 every day. We were pretty sure the locals had been taking advantage of this generous offer. Nice. Tim needed the loo, but didn't want to risk it. We took our photos with the minimum of fuss (and the maximum of disguising the action), downed our pints in record time and left the badlands, our target Lambeth North...
