OVERALL  Scored average on the night but promised a lot more and worth a return

A sinking feeling told me we would end up here but rules have to be followed and I accepted that this venue could see me bumping into one of my ex-girlfriends who works nearby! This is a nice pub with a large outdoor seating area, just perfect for whiling away the summer nights with friends or that special person in your life. Inside a sign clearly boasts that this is a “smoke free pub”. Another sign offers “free tasting of guest ales” which would surely pacify the most disgruntled of frustrated smokers. The decor was designed by Dominican monks (or that’s what my drunken notes on this pub are telling me), there are slate walls and an impressive marble bar surface. Above the bar lies monkish ceramics to continue the theme. We merrily exchanged notes about Finnish and English football players before supping up and heading off to Temple.
