 Ambience

Not smoky, but not a cosy pub by any means
Facilities  The best so far by a country mile, pool table, new style itbox quizzer, 3 happy fruits, bowling and golf machines, an old style quiz machine, a sweet dispenser and a big SKY screen. only a jukebox/dartboard could've improved this place
Ladies  Two barmaids of rather poor quality and an old woman. the rest of the place was blokes

OVERALL  Extra marks for cheap beer and pool table inflates the score for this place

After an aborted plan to travel back to tower hill, we decided instead to go to cannon street to savor our first pint of the evening. After another aborted attempt in which we went the wrong way on the district line(!), we eventually ended up in The Cannon, directly opposite the exit of the tube station. Having drunk here before on a reconnoiter of local pubs to our old offices, I knew what to expect - not much. However things has improved a bit. The place was no longer anywhere as smoky and they had gone to town on the facilities. Always a blokes pub, the Cannon has now really gone for it with the ever-so-elusive pool table feature. We collected our cues, chalk and cue ball from the friendly, albeit visually-challenging, barmaid and started a quick game. After potting a red off the break, it was all downhill for JJ. Despite going into a 5 ball lead and threatening a 7-baller, not being on "lucky canary yellows" meant there was only going to be one result. And lo, Tim did win the game on the black, a worthy victory. Even the attraction of more pool was not enough to put us off our MD stride and after meeting Guest1, we headed back to Monument for what would be his 2nd MD cap.
