Not much considering the effort that has gone into "theming" this bar |
| Facilities | One small TV! | |
| Ladies | You could count it on one hand. We did. |
| OVERALL | Would come back, but only to sample the tempting food menu. |
The Ring at Southwark is directly opposite the tube (take the left exit) and the signage proudly boasts the location is where "boxing started in 1910". Once inside you realize that the boxing theme is a tad overdone with all four walls adorned with boxing memorabilia and black and white boxing photos. The original floorboards and large air-conditioning system are welcome additions, as are the rack of national newspapers for punters to flick through. James Brown played in the background (not literally) and we were most impressed by the low prices and range of Thai food available on the lunchtime menu (inspired by the Oriental barmaid?). But best of all, the Guinness was cheaper than the lager... a rare treat that surely wouldn't be repeated at Cannon Street...
