Our first single stop of the challenge, which we hope will become a regular feature of lunchtimes. This pub is on the main road in between the two exits to the station. We entered via a rather gothic exterior to find a nice enough looking pub, bristling with lunchtime drinkers. Following the welcoming grunt of the barman I realized that this was the first pub where I didn’t feel cock-sure about querying the price of beers or even daring to reveal that we were reviewing the pub! Fortunately the cash register wasn’t hidden so a mental note was made of the prices and we took the photos as surreptitiously as could be done in the circumstances! There were historical tales of the old local “Jack the Ripper” on the walls and miniature Pearly Queen and King dolls! This pub was clearly playing on its East End roots. We supped up and headed back to work having no idea our next stop would be over a week away at Green Park.
Yuk!
