As we were going to to watch Fulham v Newcastle that evening, it only seemed apt to take a visit to St. James's Park. The pub looked great from outside with a very nice pub sign. Unfortunately, that was about as good as it got. Tim had his first amusing bar experience when asking the bar man the price of a pint of Guinness. He answered slightly guardedly as if he had something to hide, so we proceeded to very visibly take notes throughout our visit shaking our heads whilst looking at him. Hopefully, he was suitably freaked out! Special mention does have to be made of the bar staff as both the barman and barmaid were both redheads - most unusual. The girl was nothing to write home about, but was our first redhead, so fondly remembered. The guy was a hilarious proper ginger Avid Merrion type complete with cack "beard". When will they ever learn.....? Apart from this, there wasn't much too see here. The facilities were on the poor side and the atmosphere pretty flat. The more pubs we visit from the T&J Bernards chain, the more formulaic they seem. Anyway, mindful of the 7.45 kick off, we supped up and headed off in the vain hope of meeting some posh sorts at Sloane Square.
