After the shambles of drinking at Bank, we were sure that we would be onto a winner here. The pub that JJ drinks in on a regular basis on his way home or before Fulham games when they were at QPR was expected to do well. Unfortunately we arrived at a bad time just as the rush hour was in full flow and the place was full of city type commuters getting a quick one before their journey home. On the day the pub was very busy and unbelievably smoky, so much so that we had to go and sit outside. The choice of lagers here has always been naff and they only had XXXX or Carlsberg on the standard menu. This pub has always been a real winner on the facilities front with a big screen, many fruits and a quizzer. However, the big screen at either end had been replaced with small "widescreen" tv's and the quiz machine was replaced by another fruit on our visit, losing this pub valuable points. A few footy fans turned up to watch the evening games, but I don't think I would have stayed to do so. They do have a club upstairs on Friday nights which often boosts the totty rating, but on our visit, there were just a few reasonables. To be noted was the very poor quality of barmaids. Not only are they firespades, but our one forgot Tim's Guinness altogether and I had to wait for an extra 5 minutes. Poor and very disappointing for what is normally a good pub. On to our final destination for the evening, Moorgate.
